1. ARCHITECTURE OVERVIEW
To ensure maximum situational awareness during seismic events, personnel are required to maintain the following 3-Layer defensive grid on all Android-based assets:
- LAYER 1 (THE SIREN): Built-in Google Earthquake Alerts.
- LAYER 2 (THE FAST BACKUP): Earthquake Network (Play Store Link)
- LAYER 3 (THE INFORMER): My Earthquake Alerts - Map (Play Store Link)
2. CONFIGURATION PROTOCOLS: GOOGLE SEISMIC ALERTS
Alerts are integrated into device core safety systems. Follow these directives to establish the perimeter:
PROCEDURE:
- Access Settings on your Android device.
- Navigate to Safety & emergency. (If unavailable, navigate to Location → Advanced).
- Select Earthquake alerts.
- Toggle the system to ON.
MANDATORY OPERATIONAL PREREQUISITES:
- LOCATION SERVICES: Must be set to ON. Google requires location data to push alerts for events magnitude 4.5 and above.
- DATA CONNECTIVITY: Continuous Wi-Fi or mobile data connection is required; offline status results in system failure.
3. DEPLOYMENT CONFIGURATION: MY EARTHQUAKE ALERTS & FEED
For Layer 3 reliability, configure the application parameters as follows:
NOTIFICATION SETUP:
- Launch app and access Gear/Settings Icon (Top-right).
- Push Notifications: Toggle ON.
- Distance: Set radius (Recommend 50 miles / 80 km).
- Magnitude: Set threshold (Recommend 4.0 or 4.5+).
- Custom Sound: Toggle ON.
SYSTEM-LEVEL PERMISSIONS (CRITICAL):
- LOCATION ACCESS: Must be set to Always Allow.
- SYSTEM NOTIFICATIONS: Ensure Time-Sensitive/Critical Alerts are enabled within phone settings to bypass silent modes.
