UK's Prince Harry praises climate activist Thunberg
(17 Nov 2019) Britain's Prince Harry praised climate activist Greta Thunberg when he took to the stage at an awards ceremony in London on Sunday.
Harry - the Duke of Sussex - said 16-year-old Thunberg was as an example of the difference young people could make.
Thunberg began a school strike for the climate outside the Swedish Parliament in August 2018 which has now spread worldwide.
Harry said she had been "one voice, with just one placard, sitting on her own outside the Swedish parliament" when she began her campaign, when she was dismissed by many adults.
He added: "She may have just been one person at the beginning, but she had a belief, a mission, and a desire to do something not just for herself but for everyone, and now the whole world is paying attention."
"Every family needs their own Greta," he declared.
Prince Harry was speaking at the OnSide Youth Zones awards which aim to recognise the achievements of young people, volunteers and staff at the UK charity.
